CLUB HISTORY

Barrowford Celtic was formed in 1970 by David Jones, sadly no longer with us, with a group of boys and a girl of mixed ages training on Bull Holme Playing Fields, Barrowford,  Nelson.

Demand grew, so David began to play friendly games mainly in Yorkshire. He formed a team and entered into the Craven League.

In the 41 years that Barrowford Celtic has existed it has grown to its current size of  fielding eleven junior teams ranging from under 8's up to under 16's.  Bull Holme Playing Fields have been the home of the club throughout the past 30 years and teams can be found playing on Saturdays and Sundays  throughout the football season.

The aims of the Club as defined in the Club Constitution are

"to provide the  opportunity for young people to both male and female aged between six  years and sixteen years to participate in organised football. To develop their skills irrespective of ability and to contribute to their  development as they grow to maturity as individual members of the  community"
